Kerala’s first Sports Life Fitness Centre opened at T’vm

Thiruvanathapuram: The state’s first Sports Life centre set up in Velayambalam here has been opened to public on Monday. Minister EP Jayarajan inaugurated the modern gymnasium established at Rajiv Gandhi Sports Medicine Centre complex in Jimmi George stadium.

It is arranged in a huge air conditioned room which is always alive with aerobics music.

The trainers will give basic health tips and training to get six pack abs. Special trainers will be here for the training sessions.

The gym has over 100 equipment in 45 categories which are imported from foreign countries. A fund of Rs 65 lakh was spent to purchase it.

It functions at the fourth storey of the building. Each step from ground floor to the gym carries a message on the calories burnt from climbing the steps. Walls of the building are decorated with posters which boost confidence and entertain the people who arrive here.

Let’s walk and get ready to fit

At first, people who are new to gym will be trained to walk on the treadmill. This training will continue for a week. Later, they will be trained to easily climb the steps. Step Treadmill which have steps will be used in this training. In the next phase, priority will be given to teach exercise methods. Following this sessions, training will be given to strengthen arms, legs and waist muscles.

Entry open to all

The gym is open to all people who are interested to be physically fit. Apart from athletes, student athletes who are above 12 years can use the gym for training. The gym will be open from 6 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 9 pm every day.

Compared to private fitness centres, a low fee will be charged from the members. According to officials, a final decision on fee is not taken yet.

Special facility for women

Special facility has been arranged for women here. A changing and rest room has also been made available for women
